Love the car, really cool!

Welcome to the site! Looks like a very nice car to start with. Ask questions, there are a lot of people here that can help or point you in the right direction. LOL, not surprised by the dealer response. There are not a lot of parts in factory production any longer, so they really can't offer much. Do a google search for your area to find suppliers and shops that specialize in vintage cars. There is probably a lot that you can do yourself too!

Share some more pics, we all like to see these cars and hear the details!

Of the four 67's and one 69 that I have owned, all the "domes" were down. All LOS cars FWIW.

I may be off base but compare this cars spoiler with the Z28 (1967) Press Car?

Always frustrating when people sand the tag surfaces. Lazy way to highlight them. I always think someone is hiding something when I see it.

Try to find some original Mountain Green paint; maybe under weatherstripping, jambs or in the trunk.
The vin tag looks like it may have been masked over, either way it's pretty crappy looking so hard to say. See if you can clean it up a little and post a better pic. Look for the hidden vin in the cowl to confirm originality.

There is nothing so special about either of them to warrant swapping. If they were swapped out it may have been to a car that was missing them; one or both. The rivets appear ok though, so they're just as likely to be legit. Maybe it's just the rash makes them look suspicious.

I had a similar problem with my 1979 Trans Am and I replaced the clutch pedal switch, then replaced the ignition switch in the steering column, followed by installing a new Delco solenoid.  The car still would sometimes not start and the problem was solved when I bought a new battery.  Even though I kept the battery charged, it apparently didn't have enough amperage to engage the starter.  I also checked the battery cables and ground wires and they were okay before I started to replace parts.  Good luck as electrical problems are no fun! - Mark

Good info! I had a Camaro and a Corvette with the same issue. Tried a few fixes and never nailed it down. Wish I had know about possible battery issues then. I didn't learn that lesson until after I no longer owned either of the cars.

As far as I know, 67/68 are interchangable. 69 is different.

Technically, if they can't be validated, they should be removed. However, it's your car, and if you want to keep them on then do so. It really depends on what your goal is.

No, those two don't match up. Check the hidden vin for a match.

J219 would be Oct 21, 1969. Too late for a Sep car. 

For the most part the engine date is not the driver, as carbs, alternators, staters, etc., were installed on the Chevrolet assembly line. Parts were grabbed off the shelf in no particular order and regardless of dates. These type parts are generally dated within thirty days of the cars completion date.

I can't confirm the carb number. However, K6 may not work for every 11B, but I think it could work for yours.
