Originality / Rare Spare Tire Wing Nut?
June 14, 2025, 10:29:51 PM
I was looking at a 69 396 4 speed Camaro that a man bought new and still owns. Triple black, all original except for one repaint 20 years ago. This is a late production Norwood car 9N705xxx. He says this is the original wing nut that came on his spare. I have seen a lot of wing nuts but never seen one that looked like this in an original 69. Have any of you ever seen one like this?

This is the tag that is on the Muncie M22 I have that matches the VIN on that Camaro. That tag designates a M22 with L78. So obviously the 68 Camaro for sale on Streetside Classic not only is a real SS but an L78 car too. If that isn't the born with engine in it, which probably isn't, without original documentation there is no way to prove that car was an L78 M22 car. I guess I have the only "proof" for the car. LOL

Thank you very much for clearing that up for me. If I bought that Camaro, at least I would have the matching number Muncie. LOL

I'm confused about the VIN on the M22 now. It's 18L311365 and the VIN on that 68 Camaro link another guy posted thats for sale on Streetside Classics VIN is 78L311365. See what I'm talking about?

Yes the original gears still had the paint mark on them. Yes it has the Lisle drain plugs and the original metal ID tag. I bought this M22 from  a man in California. The transmission had never been opened. It was removed from the 68 Camaro shortly after the car was bought new because the owners wife couldn't drive a manual. The metal tag is 3925626, which designates 1968 M22 L78. Now I have a question for you, do you have the car? I would post some pictures but every time I have tried to do that in the past my image files were too big (~4mb) and is way too much trouble resizing them. Again, do you have the car?

Going by the date code, did this DZ carb come on a late production 67 or early production 68 Z28?

I found out this evening that all CHQ temp gauges being made now do have an internal resistor.

Maintenance / Console Temp Gauge

Does anyone know if the 68-69 Camaro console Temp gauges being made by Classic Headquarters now are internally resisted or not? If they are and don't need the ceramic resistor, I'm assuming the 12 o'clock terminal doesn't get anything connected to it and should be isolated from ground?

Maintenance / Re: 69 Pulling To The Right

I swapped the passenger side tire over to the driver side and driver side tire over to the passenger side. That corrected the minor pulling to the right issue. 😁

Maintenance / 69 Pulling To The Right
April 24, 2023, 05:57:43 PM
Do any of you experienced front alignment guys see anything in this alignment setting on my 69 big block Camaro that would make it pull to the right? All front suspension components are OEM style and complete front end rebuild has 9000 miles on it. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

Maintenance / Upper Control Arm Bushing
April 16, 2023, 07:33:21 PM
I was under my 69 Camaro this evening changing oil and just happened to notice this. What will have to be done to fix this? Will the entire control arm have to come off or is there another way to fix this. Any advice or suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks
