For a general idea you could pick up a book like, "How to Rebuild Your Big Block Chevy", through Amazon or another book supplier. I think the author was Tim Wilson.  It may help you with a few of your questions, and give you some basics.

My car has the same build week as yours, and has an 8M19 in it.

My car is also an 02D build, and retains its oringinal trim rings.  Your car would use the clips that go all of the way around.   

Does anyone which casting numbers may have been used for the 69' model year?

What is the correct part number for Front Calipers on a 69 Z/28, and also what date coding method is used?  Build date is the first week of March.
