The engine assembly plants did not build cars, so the engines had to be shipped to the auto assembly plants. This took time.

Nice to see you back! I've been wondering lately where you went.

Yeah, I've been getting that error for a couple days as well. Thanks for working on it, Bryon.

Feb 19th, 1969 (9B19) Very desirable alternator as the 837 was used on all the solid lifter engines in '69.

Excellent!!!! What a car.

Do you happen to know the VIN? That would be a huge first step in finding it.

It does look like an 8 for the year, but I'd say it is actually a 9 vs an 8. The odds of getting a head exactly one year off the other is pretty slim, and I don't think the 186 casting came out until '69, anyhow. I could be wrong on that, thoguh.

Post clear pictures of the casting number, casting date, the pad stamp, and the partial VIN. Guys here will be able to tell if it is legitimate or not.

There were roughly 37k Camaros built after the auction car. Pretty naive of whoever wrote that description to think this was the last convertible.

Get good, cleat pictures of the casting number, casting date, engine pad stamp, and the partial VIN stamp on the block and post them here. Once the local experts have verified the stampings are legitimate, there is an orpahns page here on CRG where you can post all the information. Good luck, and thanks for trying to do the right thing!

Jill, good luck finding the car. Hopefully you find it and the owner appreciates having the paperwork.

Who?

Oops. Sorry, Bryon!

Byron is exactly right. Norwood didn't start putting the X codes on the trim tag until well after September of '68.

Welcome to the site. Where are you finding the X33 code on your car?
