I have owned four 69's two Z28's one an RS that I owned for 20 years. The other Z was an original paint car, X77. The other two were convertibles. One was Glacier Blue, L-65 engine so nothing special. Did have the tri-horn option which was odd. The other was an X66 car with an automatic and 396/325. Great driving car, silver with a black top and interior.
While in High School I always wanted a 67 SS/RS but ended up with two 68 327/210 cars automatics, lowly powerglides. My grandfather would not let me have anything powerful. So now I am on the hunt for a nice 67 SS/RS small block 4 speed car. There was a Butternut car on Hemmings I should had make a move on but could not get out of my own way, LOL and its gone.

Looks like some nice pieces still with the car. I.e. smog pump, breather lid. Have fun is the most important aspect of the hobby!

I recognize a few of these cars from past MCACN.

I own both too. My L78 is in a 69 Chevelle with 4.10's. Cruises docile until you hit it and that camshaft, heads, and gearing make for a fun badass ride, pulls very hard and wheel hops bad during a burnout, but that is probably a different story. My oval port car is a 67 Vette 427/390 HP. So probably not a good comparison because of the 427, but I kid around that this is my station wagon engine in my Vette. It idles lazily at 650 rpm's, but has a nice lope. It pulls extremely hard down low and I am not sure how it pulls above five grand. It is the original engine in the car and don't want to run the risk of grenading the engine. I once owned a L35 69 Convertible automatic car. The torque in that car was really nice because it had a 3.07 and was a great driving car.

Danny I suppose you have no gas coming out of the vents or flooding anywhere?
I would check the needle and seat and confirm no trash has found it's way on the seat.

Those hoses look great. Very creative idea with tire pen. Never even heard of a tire pen. I guess I am damn lucky that my RS Z still has the factory hoses.

There is a great article in April Hemmings American Muscle Machines about dieseling. Per the article the dieseling is caused by carbon build up on the top of the pistons or excessive high idle or both. Ray Bohacz says to soak the pistons with GM Upper Engine and fuel Injection Cleaner. There is a lot more to the details about doing this so read the article before soaking anything. Ray says that this process will cure your dieseling problems.

Good luck

After 18 years of ownership I am selling my 69 Z28 RS. I have so enjoyed the car over these years. This one and a 69 L78 Chevelle will be sold. The Z will be sold at RK Motors in Charlotte. The Chevelle is not ready to be sold yet so not sure where it will be sold.
I want to thank all the guys on this site that have helped me with my car. I really enjoyed it. I am not closing the door on my Camaro ownership may just pivot to a 67 SSRS convertible or another 69 Convertible.

Thanks again

Lawrence

General Discussion / Re: RS. NOS vs Repop

I bought two OER actuators for my 69 RS Z28 in 2010. I had one Original go bad but replaced both. One of the repops actuator rod was too long and would not allow the headlight door close perfect like with the originals. I just reused the original and still am using it. So just compare the repops to originals prior to installation.

I would budget into the price having the springs rearched and the price for the strap kit.

I agree with William. A CE block car does not bother me in the least bit.
