Restoration / Trunk Spring installation
February 22, 2014, 10:56:45 AM
I am doing the body on a 69 for a friend and when I got it it was completely taken apart, now I want to put the trunk springs in to hold the lid up and I have no idea how they go, can anyone help me with a picture maybe? Thanks in advance!

Originality / Re: Pinstripe from facory ?

John , more specifically , were they put on in the 67 model year? Those 1/8 - 1/16 stripes were the ugliest thing a person could put on the side of a car , most body shops did them after paint jobs.

Originality / Pinstripe from facory ?

I was wondering if any first gen Camaro left the factory with pinstripes down the side of the car , or was it something the dealers added if called for . I've seen quite a few pictures of these cars with the little stripes and I am curious to know , thanks.

Was the top of the dash between the windsheild and the pad always painted interior color (on any Camaro) or was is low gloss black to eliminate glare ?

Originality / Re: Making a coupe into a convertible
January 02, 2010, 03:42:05 PM
Ok now let me ask this , are there some welds on convertibles that are done after the fact with mig welders ? Like in the rear inner quarterpanel reinforcments , the rear seat support etc. ? The reason I ask this is because you can visibly tell that these parts look to have been welded after the fact , not spot welded from the factory , I can see that the front posts look original(with fenders on) but I can clearly see that at the bottom where they meet the rockers there is mig welds , so after I have the fenders off I'll be able to see if the cowl has indeed been tampered with . The vin tag is the same as the number stamped in the upper cowl section which tells me that the whole cowl is correct but is it from another car ? We will see when oit comes apart.

Originality / Making a coupe into a convertible

Im working on doing the body work on a 67 convertible for a friend that purchased the car a few months back and now that the car is alomost completely apart it shows some signs of something strange , it looks to me like the rear section of the body may have possibly been changed , the welds are not original and you can tell it has been worked on , it has new quarters but it just seems strange, the front section around the windshield pillar seems odd too but the fenders are still on so until they come off I wont be able to see whats been done around the cowl area . Is there anything that is obvious to only a convertible that would be next to impossible to swap out if this type of job was done ? Something I can look for that is distinct ?

Originality / Interior colors
December 28, 2009, 11:29:13 AM
I am curious about the color of the metal parts of the interior , ie: top/bottom of doors , dash ,etc , are these parts always painted body color or were they sometimes black? I did a couple searches and found nothing about this .

Originality / Convertible question
December 27, 2009, 10:54:20 AM
I am doing the body and paint on a 67 convertible for a guy I know and I came across a spot that I am unfamilliar with. The panel that is between the trunk lid and the top , on a hard top it is left to look like a seperate piece, but on this car it had the lines like it was a seperate piece but when I stripped it down it was done with filler and what was under it was a lead joint, what I need to know is if this is a smoothed area on a convert. or if it should have the joint lines.

Restoration / Re: hideaway headlamp breakdown

Unfortunately I don't , I probably should have gotten one but by the time one comes now it will be too late , I need to sort this out in the next couple days . I talked to a guy here that deals in nothing but Camaro and Firebird parts but he wants more than double what you can get them for anywhere else online , thats just robbery in my opinion , and he said he's not sure if it even covers the RS headlamp system !

Restoration / hideaway headlamp breakdown
June 12, 2008, 11:19:49 PM
Does anyone know where I can find a break down or an exploded view of the hideaway headlamp assembly for a 68 ? I took the assemblies out of the car I am working on and the bushings are all broken or missing , I have a new bushing set but it comes with a whole crap load of stuff that is not even in these so a picture would be great for me to go by.

Restoration / 68 Emblem location
May 27, 2008, 05:32:01 PM
Would it be possible for someone to give me the exact measurements as to where the Camaro emblem is on the front valance ?  I am working on a 68 RS/SS that someone has put the wrong emblem on and I have to fill the holes and drill new ones for the proper emblem . As well I would just like to confirm that the one on the trunk is the same as the one on the front valance , is this true ? Thanks in advance for any help !
