Restoration / Rear leaf springs

Do I have to remove the gas tank on 1979 Camaro to remove rear springs? Not much room to access bolts. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Wanted to find a set of true Hooker sidemounts for 78-81 camaro or firebird. By true I mean 4 header pipes into one colector, side tube slips on, etc. They (Hooker) discontinued awhile back. No luck on Ebay or others.

Have a 1968 (supposedly) M20: P8E15C. Muncie, May 15, 1968- what is the C? I understand that after a certain date the letter refers to gearing or something, but this was after May 1968.
