Originality / 1969 Trunk
October 24, 2021, 06:34:32 PM
I was looking to purchase an original trunk lid and found this one. I did not buy it because it had four extra holes: one large hole near the date code, one large hole near the hinge and two small holes near the emblem. I have looked at the CRG report on trunk lids closely and this very early 1969 trunk lid does not match the photos. Has anyone seen a trunk lid like this and are these holes original?

Originality / Re: 69 Gas Caps revisited - original Cap?

This video has a good shot of the gas cap. Ironically look 3:02 (but it is not a Z28) minutes into the video on the CRG youtube channel. It appears to have raised letters, ears and shows the handle perpendicular to the line in the cap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bjq-KbGlKwM

Lakeholme, if you want to save on license tags see North Carolina House Bill 71. This proposal will allow individuals of antique cars to purchase a permanent tag for a one time fee of $40 as long as you own the car. Payback is less than 2 years, I have owned my 69 Camaro for over 33 years just think in Wake County I could have saved $1,100 over that time period. If you have certain military service the tag is free. I hope the Bill passes.

The part number stamp looks okay but I don't see a delco stamp on the front. A photo of the date stamp may help.

I always attend. I live in Raleigh so this is close for me compared to many shows and swap meets.

^^Tim, those aren't the P01 wheel covers as shown on his window sticker.

Wow, I have never seen those hub caps on a SS.

I am guessing RPO code Z27 for a super sport always came with a 3:07 unless a special gear was ordered. So they did not count the alxe in both RPO Z27 and the 3:07 twice.

And 3:07 was only for 12 bolt axles. So the ratio should not be compared to total production.

I have an L35 with a 3:07. I have seen several others. I think this was a standard ratio rear axle so more may exist than the one that show as special order with an RPO code. Just a thought and with like to see other responses.
