Suggest you run the vin through google and see what comes up.

There's a lot of fluff in that ad. It all goes sideways for me when the seller says, "I was told ..." Based on the description and the photos; it's not a survivor, all-original, unrestored, unmolested, non cut-up, or rust-free. I doubt its got a 50 year old roof on it either. It is however, a decent looking 68 convertible.

Maintenance / Re: HELP!: Kick Panel Installation
July 25, 2018, 06:30:26 PM
Quote from: 77thor on July 24, 2018, 12:13:51 PMI've been attempting to install the Right side (non-AC) kick panel and it's not going well (and that side should be the easier of the two). I'm afraid that I'm going to break the thing...

I've found the p/s kick panel to be the harder of the two to install. Heck, I found it hard to remove. Don't trim the panel any more than you have. Use a hair dryer to soften the plastic and work the panel in rotating it left to right as you push in.

Originality / Re: 1969 Z/28 back up lights
May 07, 2018, 08:36:53 PM
The R/S was not a performance package (like SS or Z28). It was an appearance package only (most notably the hidden headlights and back-up lights below the bumper) and could be added to any 67-69 Camaro regardless of the drive-train or body style.

The seller was right. It's only original once.

I have never heard the term "side oiler" used in reference to side exhausts. I always called side exhaust "Side Pipes" and a side oiler was a Ford thing having to do with the way their performance engines routed the oil pressure.
Agreed.

General Discussion / Re: Survivor Craigslist 69 Z

Looks very original. It reminds me of a vintage Hot Wheel. Played with, and a little banged up, but still rolls nice.

$85k? Seems like a lot of money for a used car.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: Mixed N vin and LOS trim tag?

Nice detective work.
If the pictures Ed posted above are of the same car as the ones posted on the new Ebay ad (and they certainly appear to be), then that is clear fraud by the seller Tokenhunt.

I know this is an old thread, but it seems that a tri-power set up might fit on a big block under a stock Camaro hood.
One way to find out is to measure the height of a stock Chevy bbc intake, 4-barrel carb and aircleaner and compare that to the measured height of a stock Corvette tripower intake, carbs, and air cleaner. Both measurements would need to be taken from a similar, unmovable point on both intakes, like the holes where the intake bolts pass through.

Before you spend time and money rebuilding it, call Holley and see if it was one of the carbs that got recalled. If yes, they will replace it. Check out this link: http://www.camaros.net/forums/18-engine/420090-holley-carb-recall.html

It sounds like a gas issue to me. I would replace the gas filters first. Not always, but usually there's one in the fuel line and one in the carb. It's cheap and easy.
There is no reason to swap from Rochester to Holley.

Garage Talk / Re: 68 Camaro brakes disc/drum

I dont know the answer to your question, but I clicked into this post to see what others answered. Seeing that no one did, I did a google search on '68 camaro hard brake pedal.' I came up with several plausible causes. Seems like the most common cause was low vacuum (not your problem), the prop valve doesn't open, and the ball in the check valve gets stuck.

I love 68-72 Vettes. But that one, my first reaction was "ugg!" I didn't like those customs then and I don't like most of them now.

The listing ended.

When I was a kid in the 70's, my neighbors were adults. One of them restored Z10 and Z11 Camaro's. 20 years later, he told me that a potential buyer took one of the cars for a test drive. The buyer complained about some sort of noise coming from the back of the car. The neighbor got out to check and the buyer drove away in the car. The neighbor never saw the car again. Every time I see one of these trim tag sales, I think of that story.
