Garage Talk / Pomona
January 09, 2026, 08:26:08 AM
I'm looking at the Pomona Flea Market website and I'm always curious about the hours it operates.  5am to 2pm?  Start & end early?  I don't get it.....Being on the east coast, I guess I'm use to Carlisle hours from 7am to 7pm....gives ya 12 hrs to look around....but 5am to 2pm?....I don't get it.  You folks in California must love to crank up your rides at 3am wake yer neighbors....LOL!

Must be a California thing.

You might have to readjust the height of the accelerator pedal to make sure you have wide-open throttle when the pedal hits the floor.....you wanna make sure you have full power when doing burnouts.

Quote from: David K on December 27, 2025, 08:25:16 PMI recommend you get yourself the A.I.M. and research all the parts.
Yeah!!!!  That'll change your mind.

The person from Kelsey Tire told me that the recommended time to replace old tires is around 7-8 years.  I'm on my second set of Goodyear repros - keeping a close watch on them.....using 303 coating on them to keep the rubber soft.....but I know a new set is due in a few years.  I don't drive the car much (I know - shame on me), and it's in a garage......so I figure maybe 10 yrs is the furthest I'd go till I get a new set.

If that's red lead for sure.....don't mess with it. I had it on my car back in the late 80's and the body shop owner wouldn't touch my car until I covered it with Rust Oleum or epoxy paint to completely seal it.

It's like lead paint in an older home.....kinda dangerous sniffing lead particles.

I would get a lead paint test kit and find out for sure.

Restoration / Fuel Line Replacement
November 05, 2025, 08:40:12 PM
Looked around and didn't get a great answer to whether or not if it's possible to replace the pre-bent fuel line from the tank to pump on a completed / body-on 69 Camaro.

Has anyone performed this replacement?  If so - any tips?

Thanks!!

General Discussion / Re: Door Weatherstrips
June 25, 2025, 12:03:28 PM
Check out the Legends certification book for 69 Camaros.   It might be in there.

To be honest, getting NOS weatherstrip is almost futile.  I saw a set last Friday at the GM Nationals, - new in boxes - both sides----$1700 just for the door weatherstrips, and they were "brittle" feeling.  Not soft or spongy like they should be.

There's a company called Precision - (its on Rock Auto of all places) and this stuff is superb.  It's an exact copy of what I bought as "Latex-Type" weatherstrips from a restoration parts vendor years ago......the rubber is extremely soft and doesn't make you slam the doors.

The rubber molding is super nice - and the price was right (I forget - but it was cheap).  I've read other posts on that same weatherstrip, and they were all positive.  So, I ordered two sets - and I'm glad I did.

They are nice.
