In tennessee you can run a title search they keep record's for as long as the car stay's in the state. I did mine in 1989 & got all prior owner's plus copy of original dealer sheet @ mso. Now several friend's that did with same result's. Last one done they blacked out previous owner's names but still got copy of dealer sheet @ mso because of privacy laws. Hope this help's. good luck!

Same luck for me from TN.  They even had the invoice, MSO, and lean papers where the guy borrowed money on it.  They did black out all the previous owners names and addresses, though.  I did it about 5 years ago.

I bought a new OEM engine wiring harness and front light wiring harness a while back, and just got around to putting them on the car - '69 RS/Z. I haven't gotten the motor back in to test them out, but I must say, they fit perfectly. All the little mounting tabs were dead-on, and all the connections fit like a glove. It's a relief to have a repo part fit that well right out of the box!

Pretty close to mine, too.  That assembly date is pretty far out for an 01C car, though.

The wheels are date coded and the Monte Carlo was introduced for the 1970 model year.

So how do you tell the difference between "YH" wheels for a MC and a Camaro?

I think JohnZ told me once that the same machine stamped the hidden VIN at both places, and had to be used twice prior to setting to the next sequential VIN.  Therefore, it would make sense that the hidden VINs match.  If I'm mistaken, maybe he'll be kind enough to tell me again!

Hello everyone.

I have the engine out of my car, and was planning on painting it before re-installing it, so I used a wire cup brush to get some of the loose paint off.  As I did, some yellow markings became visible.  JohnZ told me (over at camaros.net) that it was usually the suffix code for the motor written upside down on the block as it went down the line.  I was told that the motor was bought as a short block over the counter, so there's nothing stamped on the front pad.  Anyway, here are a couple of pics, tell me what you think.  The drivers side will need some more work to be able to see the writing, but there's something there as well.

Shooting from memory here, I'm sure someone can jump in here and correct me if my memory is failing:
The main difference is the location of the bumper stop for the lower control arm.  You need to use the arms from the same year subframe you have.
1967 - the bumpers are located on the subframe.
1968 - the bumper is located on the back of the control arm.
1969 - the bumper is located on the front of the control arm.
