Very nice thread. I have a 1968 RS that I bought in 1991, that has been in storage since 1996. Work and general life and raising 2 boys from infancy through college took priority. Now that it's just me and the wife, and finally a covered garage, I'm about to get the car out of storage and start to work on it. It was drivable when I bought it, and mostly disassembled when put into storage. Your thread is an inspiration, and I'll probably try to take care of the smaller things first, to have ready when it's time to re-install them. I had the floor pans replaced before the car was put into storage. Other than that, most of the body is still solid, but needs a thorough cleaning and rust prevention measures / priming / painting / etc.

I have used some Evapo-Rust in the past, but I have also found that Jasco concrete cleaner (at HD and Lowes) is very similar, and cheaper too.

Is there a chart on the site somewhere, showing which alternators went with what year models, with various options? So far, it appears non-AC cars came with 37A units, but I know others were available.

I'll probably look an off-the-shelf unit rather than a custom grind. 40 years ago I ran a "151" cam (327/350HP) in a 1981 Z-28 that I de-computerized, along with headers, a shift kit, tweaked Q-jet and HEI distributor. That car was surprising fast to a lot of folks on the street. I had it about 2 years and sold it. But the memories and experience are still there.

Hopefully I'll start back on my 1968 RS. Life in general has kept me from it for 30 years. It has been in covered storage for that time.

As I rebuild the engine, I have thought about putting a roller camshaft in it, since ZDDP oils seem to be not as popular. Are there any recommendations for particular brands? I will be running a 327 with 4-speed, sort of a cross between a L30 and L79. I have the original short block in the car, and I'm thinking of using Speedway Motors "461" aluminum heads.
