I think it's probably a casting mark. Or if we want to start a conspiracy theory, he applied some type of metal mender, roughed it up and restamped it  8)

Some color...

That one looks like it's strapped down tight. Look how low it's sitting.

They didn't have to enclose the car carriers back then and there is no spray paint on any of the cars. When the trains go by now, you can't tell if the car carriers are full or empty, but most of them have graffiti on them.

I hope it shows up so we can see photos of that color combo!

That has to be an extremely rare combo, so if anyone on here has seen it, they should remember it. Good luck with your search!

Did you buy it? Once it's cleaned up, it will look like it's worth more and the family will probably think you should pay more.

General Discussion / Re: My 69 Z28 NRCS Data Report

I purchased the car in Minneapolis, MN in 1987 or 1988. The car didn't have enough rust to have lived it's life there. I sure wish I had asked more questions about the history of the car, but I was just excited to have found a 69 Z28 at a fair price. Now 35 years later, more detail would be nice to have.

General Discussion / My 69 Z28 NRCS Data Report

I spent the $50 to see when my 69 was built and where it was shipped. According to NCRS it was produced 10/02/1969 and delivered to Dealer Code 001 in Zone 79. GM Overseas Distribution Center. New York, New York. Any thoughts on this? Maybe a member of the military purchased it?

Flywheel wasn’t cleaned well. Old throw out bearing or it was installed wrong. Pilot bearing needs to be changed. There are several possibilities.

I ordered the information on my 69 Z28 last week and they have already sent it. I'm anxious to see what it says.
