Only trouble with photos, they could be from many cars other then the one he is authenticating.

Kurt, does the new forum have a post "like" feature?

Quote from: KurtS on November 06, 2025, 11:04:44 AMNot sure what would cause that. The address for some files didn't have the https address. I fixed that and some other minor things. Let's see if it happens again...

It's working now, Kurt. Thanks!

It seems the "unread post" and "update topics" aren't functioning correctly.

Site appears to be more stable!!

I tried to upload an avatar and got the message that the avatar folder is not writeable.

During what years did Fischer marked all cars 124xx (even on 6-cylinder cars)? I have learned it was like this in 1968, but was it also other years?

1967

12437 - Sport Coupe, standard interior
12467 - Convertible, standard interior
12637 - Sport Coupe, custom interior
12667 - Convertible, custom interior
NOTE: In 1967 the trim tag did not identify a 6 or 8 cylinder engine in this spot, only the interior style with the code 4 or 6 as the third digit. The VIN did show a 3 or 4 as the third digit indicating 6 or 8 cylinder. 1967 was the only year the interior style was coded like this.

1968

12437 - Sport Coupe
12467 - Convertible
NOTE: The 3rd digit is always a "4" on the trim tag and does not denote a V8 or 6 cylinder so for that reason it can differ from the VIN on '68 Camaros.

1969

12437 - coupe
12467 - convertible
NOTE: The 3rd digit is always a "4" on the trim tag and does not denote a V8 or 6 cylinder so for that reason it can differ from the VIN on '69 Camaros.

On a 1968, if the VIN tag, on the dash under the windshield, starts with 123 then it was a factory 6 cylinder car.

That's Wayne Guinn's work.
What's the date of your axle?

Kurt,

I don't have an ET axle. I was just trying to learn about them.

Tim, Never hear of a code starting with E.  Could it be a B?  A BT code is a 12 bolt with 3.55 gears. Have you determined the rear ration by rotating the tires?

The only thing I saw about them and I don't know what publication this came from.

67s had a resistor wire from the bulkhead the ignition coil. It's a cloth looking wire that was white with some red in it.

It's very rare. Heavy Duty Service axle used in 1968. Probably less than 10 known today.

So they weren't installed at the factory?

I did a search both here and google looking for information on the 1968 ET axle code.

Is there a previous discussion here or somewhere else?

Nope, the tape player could be ordered by itself all three years.

John,
What's the AIM show for grounds in the U57 section? I don't have the AIM handy this second.

Looking through the 67 AIM, U57 A1-A4 there are no ground straps listed. I assume since it's not using radio frequencies there wouldn't be any interference from other sources.

It is a factory hole but I'm not sure why the edges are curled up like that. The inner fender support bolts to that.

See the attached photo from my 67 04B LOS.
Looks like it was taped back but it has the boot.

Mike

Thanks for the photo Mike.

Can you tell me which of the two wires is going to the brake switch? IE the one on the main harness or the one on the extension?
