Post by: x66 714 on April 20, 2012, 07:25:00 PM
A block with V1226DZ should have the partial vin on that same pad...correct?.....Joe

The Norwood plant stamped the VIN on the engine pad on early cars and moved the stamp by the oil filter in the December 68 timeframe. Los Angeles was not as consistent and the VIN stamp location varied during the year.

I looked at both areas of the block where the vin should be & no sign of anything ever being in either place. The block is perfectly clean. I guess I need to take a picture of what stamps are there..Joe

Joe,

Post a picture of the engine assembly stamp and Kurt will let you know if it's original.

Sometimes real hard to see down by oil filter. Especially if still had paint on it.
