Title: 69 Starter Nose color
Post by: DavidS on February 03, 2012, 11:14:16 PM
Are 69 Starter noses supposed to be painted black?

Specifically, # 1108367.  On HBC, there are two:

Dec 9 1968, HBC #1577

May 10 1968, HBC #1576

Which one is correct?

I don't know specifically about 69's or models, but my 68 Z28 starter nose is aluminum in color.

the 367 small block starter has an aluminum nose piece (unpainted); I believe big block starters got an iron nose pice (also unpainted I think?)...  the remainder of the starter is generally painted semi gloss black..

I have learned on the NCRS site that most starters of this era were painted all over but some were not painted at all.
