Title: Need help with alternator date code

I am looking to buy an alternator for my 68 327/210hp RS Convertible that has a date code of 8A12.  My car has an 01C build date and the engine casting was A 8 8.

Is this alternator too close to my build date, or would it be acceptable.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated

Mike, the alternator was installed on the engine at the engine dress line at the Norwood (or Van Nuys) assembly plant and should be dated a day to a few weeks before the cars final assembly. 8A12 is just about perfect for your car.
