Title: 67 Z-28 CRANK
Post by: CROSSRAMJL8 on December 06, 2011, 09:33:49 PM
I have a 67 Z-28 crank shaft # 3815822 . this is the correct # in Chevrolet by the Numbers. Jerry Mcneish 67 Z-28 book shows another number?
I was trying to sell this and was told it is not correct. Any help would be appreciated.
The ebay listing is 250937712369

I don't believe the '822' crank is the correct one for a '67 Z. They never appear to be tufftrided, which should be the case for a 302 crank. Also, I have seen at least three NOS '67 Z-28 cranks come out of the box with the '6764' casting number on them. Note the tufftrided coating on the NOS '67 Z crank below and the correct '67 Z part number on the box it came out of.

The only and correct 67 302ci crankshaft is like Jon indicated '6764'

Is the '68 'MO' motor crank the same PN?

Nope, '68 302s use a large journal crank.

That's what I thought.    So what was the PN for the '68 crankshaft?    If I'm not mistaken the original poster (who had tried to sell the crank over on the TC website) indicated a purchase date from Chevrolet of summer '68 (which would most likely have been a '68 crankshaft)..  Is it clear from the previous posts that it was a small journal crankshaft that he had?    Is the '68 and '69 Z28 cranikshafts the same, with the same PN?

Yes,  the casting numbers are the only difference.

my NOS Smokey Yunick 67 MO 302 has the 6764 crank in it. I also have another Smokey documented 67 Z crank that has the same part number.

Yep, that's what he has.   #3815822 is a '55-'67  265/283 forged steel crank.
