Title: Shift plate
Post by: 68Zproject on May 26, 2011, 09:58:23 PM
On the shift plate that goes on top of the boot retainer on a non-console floor shifted car:  Is the inside ring painted black with some chrome showing or was it all black like this picture of a repro?  The one on the right.

I believe there should be some chrome showing on the edge.

On the outside and just the top lip?  The thin edge border facing the top?

Actually the whole plate is chrome with just the center painted wrinkle black.
Should have# 3893855 with an ACME logo in raised letters on the drivers under-side.

This piece is original, but the paint was almost gone.  At least I know what to paint it next time.  Thanks.

The wrinkle black has a very very fine texture and is the same as used on the auto cover plates RPO 11.

Thanks.  I'm saving this page for future reference.  I have it painted with the SEM trim black, have it all put together and don't really want to paint it again yet.
