Post by: big iron on May 12, 2011, 07:51:41 PM
I has been awhile since I put an original engine together and need help on original gasket type selection. In what areas, if any where cork gaskets used? ???

And if I remember right the water pump to block had cork gaskets.

Daniel, it's been so long since I've seen a set of original gaskets, but many years ago I've seen cork water pump gaskets.

What about the distributor ,water pump to rear plate and carb. to air filter housing? The valve cover gaskets where painted silver. I think the fuel filter was black paper.

Your probably right John. I'm like you it's been a long time.

The distributor  and air cleaner is yes. Not sure about water pump but I think it was cork too.
