Title: Password attacks
Post by: KurtS on February 17, 2011, 01:01:28 AM
Just thought I'd let y'all know that the forum has been under a methodical attack for the past week (and before that too).
The spammers are going thru the user accounts and trying to login. They aren't trying brute force on a single account - they are looking for the one weak password out there. They try one person's account, when they fail to login, they try the next one.

I have no way of telling what passwords they are trying, but make sure your password isn't something easy like password or camaro!

I recall logging in a couple days ago and everything was "X" out. I was even asked to enter my password.

Thanks for the post Kurt!

Paul,

Not sure which is harder, cracking your password or the mathematical equation to get into CRG? ;D

I changed the questions when you register. Too many spammers are signing up. Now it asks some engine size questions - the guys in India won't know that. :)

Btw, also change your password if it's the same as your userID. That's an oopsie.

Great, I get to change my password twice in the same day...    ;)
