1969 X-22 SS396 - It does not have the original motor/drive train in it. Are there any clues I can look for to determine what type of 396 it came with?
I am it the process of getting a records request from OH DMV - hopefully i can track down the original owners and see if they have any original documentation etc.
It does have the following:
- X-22 on cowl tag - build date matches the VIN code sequence
- Big Block heater
- Proportioning valve on sub frame
- Original fuel take with single fuel line sending unit
Thanks!
Single fuel line is L78. Quadrajets had 2; one smaller return line.
All 69 camaros had a single fuel line except the quadrajet ones (L34, L35, L48 and LM1). Big block heater cover is a bolt on item. Make sure the tag is original.
How can you determine if the tag is original or not? The date code on the tag matches the VIN.

Post a
good photo of the tag here and the experts will chime in... :)
