Title: 67 Kick Panel Vents
Post by: GSD5 on October 18, 2009, 10:10:13 AM
Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the rod that activates the vent in the kick panel (non-AC car) of a '67? If so, any suggestions on the procedure would be greatly appreciated! I found a set of otherwise excellent originals to replace the beat up ones that I have now but one of the rods is broken off at the point where it starts to extend into the recessed area that the handle is in. There is a metal clip on the back side that seems to resiist removal, and I'm afraid that forcing it will cause the plastic to snap.

Thanks!

Piece of cake. Pull that clip and remove the assembly. Spray a little help on it if you have to; I never did. They are snug and seem a worthy adversary. You will find the loop at the end of the cable will require persuasion to pass through the hole. I've done a few. Kicks are pretty resiliant to "snapping" as you say but use caution nonetheless. Lube that sleeve assy well.

Thanks...I'll give it a whack, and thanks also for the comprehensive nature of the info!
