Title: 4053 carb

need help i have a 4053 carb .what carbs had the vent on top of bowl.i see some with some with out .what was it use for

Many side-hung float 4160's had an idle vent valve on the primary float bowl to stabilize idle under hot weather conditions, but the center-hung float 4150's (like the 4053) didn't use them.
