I have a 68 rs . Can,t seem to find the correct air filter housing assembly for non smog and with auto trans.. I think it has a vent elbow for right side v/cover and no heat stove and thermo valve. I NEED YOUR HELP PLEASE!!!!
It should have a left side manifold heat stove with elbow pipe to the air cleaner.

Left side? Left = driver's side, Right = passenger side.
thanks johnZ,, Do you know where I may find one of these.. In any condition??? Thanks Rick PS, In the assembly manual they list two air housing #s They both show no heat stoves? The #s are--6983655 & 6484221.. my car is LA built #1295TH built First week of sept w/powerglide
Heat stove was on the left (drivers) side in 68. Moved to the right side in 69.
In the course of trying to find the correct air cleaner for my '69RS base coupe, I collected a couple of others, one may be a '68. I have at least 3 dfferent variants hanging on the wall in the garage. If you can e-mail me with the details, I'll compare to what I have and can send you pics as well.
Let me know.
Richard
This isn't the best photo of the setup but does show the 327/275hp air cleaner and stove pipe. The manifold stove and the stove pipe are the tough ones to find.
It looks like the one that CCARGO HAS. Call me any time after 5:30 pm my # 440-266-0554 ... I 'm interested ... THANKS RICK.................

Will check tonight and get back to you tomorrow.

Air cleaner that I have that I believe is a '68 is smaller in heighth than the one you have. I believe it is for the base 210 Hp configuration which would have had a Rochester 2BBl with 1-1/4" throttle plates.
Sorry I wasn't able to help.
Richard
Hay,, thanks for the effort Rich,, I'll have to keep looking for that NEEDLE IN A HAY STACK..........Thanks Rick...

Rick,
I don't have a spare, ...but am following this thread since I also have a '68 327/275 auto.
My question however, ...wouldn't the air filter housing be the same (with auto trans) for a 350(SS) and the 327/275, ...since both had Q-jet carbs? (with the exception of the chrome lid for an SS)?
That's correct, the L48 and L30 are very similar in many regards....just a little more bling ;)
I might as well add a shot of my 68 L35 with A/C to cover the bases. It gets alot more crowded and complicated with a BB, A/C, and smog ::)
Nice photos ;), ...I was actually looking for some shots of a 396 with the AIR intact :)
I"m still looking for that NEEDLE IN THE HAY STACK ( AIR FILTER HOUSING). Please contact if anybody has one Thanks Rick.................................
