Title: Correct Front Grille Emblem for 69 Camaro Z/28 RS
Post by: jmcbeth on December 07, 2008, 06:36:25 AM
I am replacing the front grille Z/28 emblem. The grille is black. The new emblem from Rick's has black paint around the edges. The one on the car has a chrome edge. Which is correct?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, John. I installed the new one on the grille and frankly, it looks better with the black edge! I'm glad that is the correct one. Based on the refereneced thread, now I am off to work on the red and "silver" colors...

If you want to get the correct red for refurbishing, One Shot sign painters enamel is the ticket. 50/50 Fire Red and Bright Red.  Chromatic or HOK can be used as well. Keep in mind that the emblems have faded so buff them a tad prior to matching. Find a pinsriper or sign painter. They (we) are more than happy to help people out and it will cost you ZIP. Don't let the paint supply store talk you into buying a pint of mixed paint. It can be mixed by the tenth of a pint by moving the decimal point on the formula. I never mixed a pint for repairs when a small amount was needed. As far as the silver, I just mix what I have in stock so I can't help you there.
