Title: Horn button contacts repo parts
Post by: mrdetails on October 06, 2008, 08:38:37 AM
Hello: I have been trying to assemble the horn contact in my steering wheel. I have all repo parts. There is a spring and what looks like an aluminum rivet. I have the terminal and plastic piece on the leads from the shroud. The rivet seems to be to long as it won't let the plastic piece engage with the slot on the piece in the column. Should the rivet be shorter so the spring carries the current and hold's the rivet in contact with the piece in the column? Any help would be appreciated.
Thks.:
Sam

Year? Type of steering wheel? Hard to offer suggestions when we don't know what you're working on.

I cut the rivet off to .775 long (not including head) and it fit togther fine. Horn also works...
