Title: groove machined in original rear brake shoes
Post by: john302 on August 18, 2008, 09:03:05 PM
I just looked at my original rear shoes from my 69z and the front shoe (rear brakes) has a groove machined in the lining.I think these are the true original shoes that the left the factory with. The groove is about a 1/2 wide. Thanks John      Are these correct?????

Yes. I have my original used one's, and own a couple of sets of NOS shoes. They all have grooves in them as you describe as do the front disc pads for 67/68. I have not yet found a set of NOS 69 disc brake pads but assume they are similiar.

If you are working with the original shoes or pads remember these are made with asbestos. A little extra care in handling, and servicing would be recommended.
