Doesn't it look like it's been through a blast cabinet? (top edge especially)

Oh there is no doubt it has been through a blast cabinet... that doesn't neccesarily mean it's a restamp though.

OK.  I'm not sure what you are trying to say about the 0, 8 and 1's because I don't see it.  Also, since it should be stamped in one gang I should think that the numbers would all trail the same...so wouldn't your observation indicate a possible restamp?

I don't see a problem with the date as a date...March 4th 1969...during the '69 productiuon run.

Yes that is what I am saying...

I am not asking if it is a date during the production, I am asking if the date of 9C4 is a legitimate 480 date.

Like flowjoe, I'm not seeing the trailing, could be these old eyes, or this old PC, but i'd be interedted to know what I am missing.

restamp. Been turned down. Look below where the cap would end. It's been machined. Wrong fonts as well.

Take a set of vernier calipers and check the diameter of the body.  That will tell you if it has been turned down.  Pretty simple check.

Good morning!!  I have a 1111481 distrib. somewhere in my stuff...  It isn't a #480 but closest thing to it...  Dated   9 D30...  FlowJoe, if you want me to dig it out and take  pic or pics of the stampings, let me know...  Ted
