Title: Camel hump heads and oil pressure
Post by: dab67 on February 05, 2006, 04:00:10 PM
??? Ok CRG these may be really dumb questions.
Will the camel hump heads of 67,68 and 68 fit a 307 block and is there anyway to check oil pressure on a engine besides the gauge in the dash or console? Can you check it in the same fashion you check compression by taking the oil sending unit out and putting a gauge in it's place? Or don't they make something like this.

Thanks people!!!!!!!!

...and the people said " yes, the camel hump heads will work on the 307 CI mill"!  And, to check oil pressure, buy a capillary style ( bourdon tube I think) oil gauge and attach it to the oil pressure tap at the rear of the block for an analog reading.Should be a low $$$ deal. If you are doing a new project or resurecting an old one- be sure and pressure pre-lube the rotating assembly before proceeding to fire her up.

You can buy a budget-priced aftermarket oil pressure gauge kit and connect it to the hole the production oil pressure sender uses, or if you have a Flint block, there's another oil pressure tap location at the front of the block, just above the timing cover, with a square-head plug in it - it's the same size as the one at the rear of the block next to the distributor (1/8" NPT).
