Your 302cid/290hp (Z/28) engine is on Ebay...

Engine pad is stamped:  V0227DZ
Partial VIN stamped by oil filter mounting boss:  19N608592
Block casting number:  3956618
Block casting date:  b 17 9
Seller id:  dolphinms12
Seller location:  Fishkill, NY

Seller says car was crushed in 1990, pad stamp being discussed in this thread.

I deleted the original thread I started on this engine. Here's the way it was listed on ebay last week.

How come you deleted it? Was it determined that the block did start life as a DZ?

Like Gary posted it was a restamp as confirmed by Jerry @ CHP and John Z.  The block had been deck so there's no way to confirm it was a DZ engine. There's no futher reason to keep it going.

Sure there is Mike.  Let's say this engine is sold to buyer "fraudulent_freddy", in a month "fraudulent_freddy" might be selling an "original" '69 Z/28 with this engine in it!!     ;)

"I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PROTECTO-PLATE.  THIS SHOWS THE VIN NUMBER "VIN 124379N608592" AND THE ENGINE DESIGNATION "V0227DZ".  THIS PROVIDES BEYOND ANY DOUBT TO ORIGINALITY OF THE MOTOR. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN DECKED BUT THE VIN NUMBER CAN ALSO BE FOUND ABOVE THE OIL FILTER HOUSING 9N608592"

It's a restamp, but it's an original 302 DZ engine.
