Do the french locks on 67 exhaust manifolds go between the washer and bolt head or between the manifold and washer? Seems loke an elementry question, but it does make a difference Thanks
Bill
Yup, it makes a difference - the french locks go between the bolt head and the washer; if you put them between the washer and the manifold, the washer interferes with bending them against the flat on the bolt head.
Thanks John. That seemed like the logical answer, but I wanted to make sure. Bill

Are french locks installed on 69 302's?
I've got bags of NOS locks. But they are probably still available, No?
I don't know if the OEM plain steel french locks are still available from GM - I haven't checked. Most of the aftermarket ones are stainless, and they aren't correct.
The current GM part # is 14081241 and yes they are still available. They are stamped steel. The old part # was 3880844. Hope this is helpful.
big block one still available to ?
