Does anyone have a recommendation for a product that looks like the original cream colored sealent used to put the oval trunk/floor pans is place?
Thank you.
3M Brushable Body Seam Sealer.
Thank you very much. Do you have a suggestion for applying it? When I pulled the trunk plugs out it looked like it was applied in a bead then the plug was set into it.

Yup, that's exactly how it was done originally; I haven't used the 3M sealer in many years, but it used to be available in a cardboard tube that you used in a caulking gun.
OK, Thanks again. I will go to the auto paint supply shop next week see what I can get and then report back for anyone who is interested.
JohnZ is right, that is how I did mine. It was still available in the tube as of 3 years ago anyway.
I went to the auto paint supply shop today. They did have the 3M brushable seam sealer, but he said it was available only in a quart can. I bought a quart of it and it is a gray color and I have no idea how I would apply it to get the correct application. I will look around a little more to see if I can find the right stuff. At this point I will even consider the "wrong stuff" as long as it can appear correct, if anyone has any suggestions.
If anyone is interested here is some info on seam sealers from 3M:

It sounds like the "08505 Fast 'N Firm Seam Sealer" may be the one as it sounds like it is the correct color
Did the original ovals get the spatter paint over it? and what about underneath the car?
<<Did the original ovals get the spatter paint over it? and what about underneath the car?>>
Yes, the floor pan plugs were in place when the trunk was spatter-painted; they were installed after prime, on the sealer deck; the bottom side of the plug shows no paint except possible slight color overspray from the rocker guns (photo below).
Thanks John, for some reason I remember the bottom being unpainted but couldn't remember exactly if the top was or not.
Thanks again, now if I can only find what happened to my ovals for the trunk????? ;D ;D ;D
Brandan-
Eastwood restoration products sold seam sealer in a cauking gun tube, beige in color that works perfect for the floor plugs. The product , which is what I used, is called Hi Tek Finesse ( part CSN) from a company by the name of The Dominion Sure seal Group. Eastwood was selling that product but has since changed to another brand according to their web site. Bill
