Title: Two 8.5 ten bolt diffs need help with codes and what years are represented
Post by: opelitis1 on July 10, 2007, 12:16:37 PM
I am having difficulty identifying  a couple of 10 bolt  8.5 inch diffs.
The coding on the first diffy  is CG G 2572 alongwith  87890 and 12345
The second differential's codes are::  PF G 091 alongwith  1254333 and  either C301 or G301.
Thanks in advance!!!!    Ted

PF was used as an axle code for 12 bolt posi unit (yours is a 10 bolt) for Camaro for 67, 68, and 69. In 1967 and 68 it was a 3.31:1 ratio and in 1969 it was a 2.73:1 ratio.  Since yours is a 10 bolt, must be from some other application.  Following is the axle decode section from the CRG main web site under drivetrain decoding:   http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#RearAxleNumbers

No idea what code CG is - something other than 1st Gen Caimaro.

The CG G 2572 is a 71 or 72 Camaro 3.73 10 bolt assembled at the Detroit Gear and Axle plant on the 257th day of the year, night shift.

I can't find any info on the PF G 091 axle.
