Title: Trasnmission Stamp identity?
Post by: Smartin72! on October 06, 2026, 12:08:01 PM
Hey all,

I have these two stamps on my Muncie M-21 4-speed, the "P9B25B" lines up with my POP, but I also see what could be the VIN and wasn't sure if that was common to have the VIN also stamped on these transmissions?

Yes, the partial VIN was stamped on the trans.

Thank you! Does that mean potentially it's the one that was installed with it at the factory? It seems sometimes it does, sometimes is doesn't

If that is a factory stamp, and it matches your VIN, yes it means it was installed in the car with that VIN,..right from the factory.

Looks like the last 6 on the trans are 616410.

Picture quality is not good but it appears to be an original stamping.

If that holds, nice that the VIN ends in 410 and you have BV 4.10 axle.
