I am looking at buying a 1969 Cortez Silver Z-28 that appears to check out as a real one and was discussed for a buyer on this site back in 2017. The paint is excellent as is the interior, and underside looks very good for original, drives great, everything works. That said it has issues: engine is the correct 302/290 but date-coded 7 months prior to build; Edlebrock carb, headers, am/fm 8-track, Richmond 5-speed, BF Goodrich Radial T/As, no vinyl top. Comes with original 4-speed Transmission and has factory tinted glass, power steering and D80 spoilers. I think the grill is the wrong color. VIN 124379N682183. Any help with getting me in the ballpark would be greatly appreciated.
Gotta love that Ford "Caution" sticker on the radiator. ::)
Given the issues with this car your money would be better spent elsewhere.

Thank you for your response and I would agree except that this is what my brother is looking for and he is not concerned with originality. It's not an investment, the color combination, condition, drivability and documented Z-28 is all he is really concerned with and he's even going to add A/C and aftermarket radio. That narrows availability quite a bit. I'm just trying to get an idea of what to pay so he doesn't really overdo it.
My advice, if he is going to add AC, buy a clone.

Good advice from Bryon.
If you've never driven with a 302, that engine does not lend itself to poking around with air conditioning adding a load while you go for a leisurely drive.
You can't lug them, they like to live in the high RPM zone. That's why they came from GM with deep groove pulleys to keep the belts on.
Or, buy it, sell the 302 and put a 350 in it.
Very hard to help you out with so little info.
..." and documented Z-28 is all he is really concerned with". Most documented Zs don't have the original engine. Everyone has opinion about the value, but the overall condition does make a difference. If you post the link from 2017, that might help.
