I'm trying to determine if my rear spoiler is a original spoiler or a reproduction. It has AOS 3949798 for the part number and it has 4 semi circular weep holes. I have read in other threads that original ones have rectangular weep holes.
examples - Z11, original car, square holes. Z28, original car, round holes, could have been dealer added as spoilers aren't listed on the dealer invoice, known it since '71, bought in '73. NOS "in the white" spoiler, still in original box, round holes, purchased from a local dealer in the '80's.
Hopefully I can figure out how to add pics on the new site configuration -
Regards,
Steve

Not necessarily. As of April 1, 1969, spoilers were included with Z/28 equipment and no longer listed on paperwork.
01C X77. Local car, I added the chin spoiler and ZL2 hood around '74. I did a repaint of the car (acrylic enamel over the original lacquer) around that time, if I remember correctly the stripes extended to the trunk edge under the spoiler, which is why I've always thought it was a dealer add. Knew the car almost 2 years before I bought it in '73, for a whopping $1600 bucks. Lot of money for a young man going to school -
I should have clarified the statement about the invoice - I have the dealer invoice on the car, plus the MSO, from the TN DOT files (I was fortunate the state would do that, applied for the history around 1979 - cost $5.00).
