I have spent many years reading threads on this forum and I am now on the hunt for a 69 Z/28 project. I have found a Fathom Green 69 Z/28 that is a roller with a CE replacement block. The car has been acid dipped and prior to dipping the trim tag was removed. From what I gather the trim tag, VIN, and rear axle code align as well as the hidden VIN. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Rear axle is stamped Jan 19 (0109), and tag is from a 4th week of September car, so those don't line up.
Dash top has been replaced. None of the reproduction dash VIN holes are correct. I've had to graft in the original area when replacing the dash top.
Well that's a reproduction dash so the VIN tag has been loose too. Check the partial VIN stampings. Doesn't sound like any of the drivetrain is original.
It is looking like this car has way too many red flags and it is a pass. Thank you for the feedback.
Out of curiosity does the trim tag look legitimate? Seems clean to me but I'm not a expert.
In addition to all the other info, why would the car be acid dipped? That was a thing in the 60's 70's race cars. But today?

Most likely to strip the paint. Low effort.
