Title: 67 -68 Z28 intake
Post by: Rustynut on March 29, 2026, 06:01:38 PM
I located an intake for a 1967-68 Z28. Seller stated that it hasn't been blasted, only cleaned. It almost looks too clean?? There also appears to be a crack near oil filler. Hes asking $550. Does it look authentic? What's the overall opinion here?
Thank-you in advance

If thats the correct part number for 67 68 intake then its an assembly line part. The factory winters intakes had the winters snowflake down close to the head on the intake port. Over the counter / GM performance replacement had the winters logo much higher up and in some cases in a totally different location.

Ask him for the casting date on the back side since the Baffle appears detached>?

Dated for a 68. The crack is repairable as well as the cut down plenum divider.

I can't find a picture of an original manifold so I dont see the cut you're referring to on the plenum divider.

This is the only photo I can find of another intake from '67-'68. They look the same, but I am no expert. I appreciate any insight into this

Legit factory intake but again.. someone milled out the center divider. Common mod back in the day.

The divider has been cut down to make the manifold work more like a single plane.  It looses bottom end torque and manners for an attempt to gain top end power.  It does not work as well as a true single plane and it does not work as well as a dual plane anymore either.  It can be weld repaired back to stock and the crack at the oil filler fixed too.  Jerry Macniesh can make it look 100% like new if you want.  He does great work with these pieces. It is pretty rare but seems a little overpriced given the condition.  Maybe you can buy it and have it restored to like new? $$$

Look for a "472" intake from a '69 Z/28.  It looks very similar but you can't use it because the water neck is in the wrong place.  You might find a picture of what an unmodified divider looks like.

Oh & Huge "Risk" working the outlets and plug configuration for proper use.

Not worth the ask at this point. (*opinion)
