Is there any info on the Clutch pedal switch on steering column?
Part of starter system with 2 purple wires. I guess it keeps you from starting car in gear.
My car will not start and I am wondering if there is an issue with this switch.
Where is it and how do you get to it?

Please define "will not start" If the part is working correctly, no power reaches the starter if clutch is not depressed. Ive never really heard of that part failing. Make sure the linkage is connected to clutch pedal lever. Follow purple wire.. cant miss it.
Turn the key and nothing happens. No click nothing.
You could bypass the switch by connecting the 2 purple wires together. Make sure it's out of gear with parking brake on. If the switch is the problem, the car will start.....Joe
What pdeal setup and transmission does your car have?
My car still has the machinal linkage from the transmission to the steering column.
To start the car it has to be in reverse with the clutch in.
The two purple wires are on top of steering column next to the firewall.
This issue started at a car show where someone recommend tapping the starter and low
and behold it started. So I assumed solenoid I replaced but still dead. Bench tested
starter worked fine. At a loss for where to look next.
Thanks
Terry
The link below shows the location of the clutch pedal switch and also a source for a replacement switch:

I had a similar problem with my 1979 Trans Am and I replaced the clutch pedal switch, then replaced the ignition switch in the steering column, followed by installing a new Delco solenoid. The car still would sometimes not start and the problem was solved when I bought a new battery. Even though I kept the battery charged, it apparently didn't have enough amperage to engage the starter. I also checked the battery cables and ground wires and they were okay before I started to replace parts. Good luck as electrical problems are no fun! - Mark
