Title: Thanks for the add to the group - Cowl Tag Concern
Post by: c6dino on February 04, 2026, 03:15:49 PM
I all thanks for the add.
I am looking at buying a restored but not original 67 Camaro convertible.
The Cowl tag rivets look like regular rivets.
The color and trim of the car match the tag. the Vin tag looks correct.  Should I be concerned?
Attached are the pics.
Thanks in advance
Dean

If that is a 7B car, the VIN lines up with production date. However, those rivets indicate trim tag has been off and may not be original to car. Personally.. I wouldn't buy a car if the tag has been tampered with. If that is no matter to you, use that as a bargaining chip.

That looks like a "C" on the trim tage which is Ermine White, or a poorly defined G. You can buy the correct trim tag rivets. I've done this with cars that rolled in the shop. One now has the wrong rivets which I'm replacing. Six cylidner car with lot of performance mods and non factory parts so it won't matter. I don't understand why people remove the tags unless smoothing or replacing the firewall.
