Title: QL 12-bolt rearend
Post by: melav8r on May 22, 2007, 01:18:39 PM
I have a 12-bolt rear end, was told it came out of 68 Camaro, had 488 posi on a 3 series carrier w/ a spacer plate. Casting date is K76 so seems more appropriate for 67 camaro. Stamp is QL02   21G1, large space between 02 and 21. Spring perches were changed so cannot verify single or multi leaf perches.
Any idea on what QL was?

QL 0221 G1

QL was a Camaro axle code in both 1967 and 1968. It was not used in Camaro applications in 1969.

QL  = 3.31 ratio, 12 bolt,  non posi
0221 = Feb 21
G = Detroit Gear and Axle Plant
1 = Day Shift

Need to look at the differential housing casting date to determine which year; K 7 6 indicates a casting date of Nov 7, 1966; a 1967 model year axle assembly

Refer to the following: http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#AxleCodes
