Title: Protectoplate
Post by: 2timms on March 26, 2023, 11:03:54 AM
I have the protectoplate for my 69 SS along with the original sale docs on the numbers matching car. Everything matches nicely, the dymotape buyers' information is on clear tape as it should be but the imprints are not reversed nor is there a visible GM logo on the tape. Has anyone ever seen this on other examples?

I don't recall seeing the tape in the normal orientation, not reversed.

Thanks Kurt,
It's a mystery.

Owner information could have been added later with regular tape. The Dymo stampers are not hard to find. I have two. The original tape could have fallen off.

When I get some time I will look through the stack of POPs I have an see if any are similar to what you have.

Thanks Bryon, it appears old and original and the name and address matches the sales docs from Royal Chevrolet Huntsville, Alabama. There is an imprint from the plate on the pre delivery check list  with no owners name on the imprint on 2-17-69 and the car was sold on 4-11-69.

Most likely the recall was performed by ear before delivery, hence the imprint.
