Title: 1967 Battery Rating
Post by: FLA-67RS on February 14, 2023, 09:04:54 AM
Need to replace the battery on my 1967 RS. The current battery has no markings, so I do not know the CCA rating. The only information i have been able to find regarding the original rating is "61 amp hr @ 20 hr rate". Does anyone have any specifications for the correct battery? The car is equipped with factory AC if that makes any difference.

Thanks for the reply. That's the one section of the CRG website that I had not looked at.

I just call my local suppliers and have them delivered to my door within hours. Just give them the specs of the car. If you want resto quality then take another avenue. As a shop owner this is not that difficult.

IMO, 50+ years later - todays batteries have plenty of Cold Cranking Amps for the typical stock engine.  If your engine has been modified for more compression / stoke, then you want to make sure you have a battery that's at least 650CCA.  That should be great for any application really.  I've been using an Odyssey PC925 and its got plenty of power for my stock 350/300hp. Doesn't even whimper.
In addition, there are new repro batteries sold that have PC925's inside (don't ask me how I know - I know).   ;)
