Haven't posted here in a while. The TT on my car is 04C which would make the body build the week of April 15 to 18, 1969. I have since learned there was no Camaro production from April 3 to 14. So I am assuming 04C builds would have moved to April 21 to 25. The casting date of the rear axle is D29, which supports my assumption. The protecto plate is dated 0422 G. The rear axle tube is stamped 0502 G1 E. Both sides have the 7206 stamped/numbered JL8 axles. This is in a factory JL8 car. I welcome any comments or opinions on the numbers discrepancy between the protecto plate and axle tube stamping. Frank
What are the letters in front of 0422G?...Joe
Sorry, was too focused on just the numbers. The complete information is axle tube QY 0502 G1 E and the protecto plate QY 0422 G1 E Frank
Have you requested a NCRS report on the car? Knowing the shipping date might clarify it.
I don't have a NCRS report. I do know when the original owner took possession of the car. It doesn't help much though
04C was the order release date. There was no 04D; 04C builds span April 15 - April 30.
Post [or pm me] the VIN for a close estimate of final assembly date.
Just for a reference my 05A JL8 car has an axle build date of QX 0505 G1.it sounds like they were waiting for the axle to be built ,just an opinion
The assembly line waited for nothing. An order missing components would not be scheduled.
An 05A release could have been built as late as May 16; no 05B.
Thanks William. I was hoping you would chime in. Hoping to figure this out using the best information possible.
William I will PM you my vin.
