Putting my car back together & noticed the seat mount on the floor has 8 threaded bolt holes for each bucket seat. When did that start?...Joe
There are two different locations for seat mounting, ~ 3/4" apart, which allows for moving the seat back by that much for long legged persons... at least for 1969. I'm unsure when/iff the '67-68 models has that option as well, but I'm sure someone does... :)
My friend's 01B LA doesn't have the the new pattern. Just an interesting observation.....Joe
Guess I never paid much attention to this. Can not remember seeing this on ANY cars. Possibly an extended 69 model year thing?
Have any close up pics of the holes?
You will want to use the rear mounting holes and I have two set on both my '68's and my '69. NOR cars
Noticed it on my 1st Z/28 many years ago; mid-Sept '69 build. Think it is a late production change.
Mentioned in the later revision of JMs '69 book.
Yep, only one set of holes on my 67

My 09D 1969 car has 2 sets of holes also.
My 06A -69 RS Z28 has both sets of holes . Canadian docs Owned since 1974
Here's a picture of mine.....Joe
My 01B LA has one set of holes , My 02B LA has two set of holes both 69 , anything to do with special interior Z23
My 04b 69 LA built has 2 sets, and 06a 68 Nor built just has one set. I made "extensions" for my 68.
Well the more data points we get, the better we can figure out when this started. Seems like it started earlier at LOS than NOR.
06A - Norwood - has eight holes.
Per the 1968 Fisher Body manual attached:
(Note that the 69 Fisher manual is basically the same, but goes into greater detail)
Ed
Thank you Ed....Joe
Not sure that makes sense. For F bodies it is adjusting the seat, not location on the floor where seat is mounted. Right?
My car is an early 68 and I sure don't remember 2 sets of holes.
Ed, Does your car have 2 sets?
No clue. I only posted what's in the manual.
Ed
This doesn't seem to say anything about 2 sets of holes in the floor pan.
I compared the bolt holes in my 68 & 69. The 68 has 4 holes that line up with the forward holes on the 69. According to what Ed posted you would be moving the seat forward. This would indicate GM was using the rear set of bolt holes as the default mounting in 1969....Joe
Thanks Joe.
Now we just need to try and narrow down the timeframe that the second set of holes showed up in the 1969 model year.

I'm not sure about that interpretation, as when I bought my '69 Z28 in 1976 my legs were too long, and 'somewhere' (not sure if it was a car mag or a manual) I read taht there were a farther back set of holes, so I checked mine and ended up moving the seat position BACK and gained 3/4" of leg room (in front).. :) but of course this took away from the already meager back seat space...
In Joe's picture look like the front holes were use not the rears.

Since this isn't the 1st time my seats have been out, I don't know which holes it was in from the factory. It doesn't really matter as long as I can drive the car. (I was built a little lower to the ground :) ) I was just using what Ed had posted. I've had this car since 1981 & this restoration I was paying a little closer attention to things I've seen here. This is the cars 2nd restoration.....Joe
I read again what Joe said. First part is correct. Front set of holes is default.
I'm confused with the service manual.
It sound like they are moving the mount on the seat? They do not say 'floor pan' (like the other models) , but 'upper channel'.
That's the way I interpreted the instructions. If I were a contortionist, I'd go look to see if it makes sense to me.

That's how I read it. Nothing to do with holes in the floor, at least for 68.
Most 69s don't have the holes. We just do not know when it started. Sounds like maybe late winter at LOS and summer at NOR.
My 05A 69 has two sets of holes
I will try to summarize the data we have so far later this evening.
I just looked a L527 (didn't get the whole VIN) which is March. Both sets of seat holes....Joe
fwiw, looks like all of the reproduction seat frame floor support pieces have 2 sets of holes.
