Title: 69 Camaro with Dash Dash Cowl Tag
Post by: 69RALLYSPORTZ28 on October 14, 2020, 10:04:29 PM
Is 06A in the time period where black as an exterior color would have been resulted in a dash dash on the cowl tag?
Does this tag look to be original or for entertainment purposes only?

Tag looks OK. Black was available all year long.
Car is NOM, btw.

So since Black was available all year long, does the dash dash mean it was a stripe delete Z/28 or a Z/28 painted a color other than an available Camaro color?
Thanks for the heads up on the NOM

I had a Hugger Orange 69Z that had a -- paint code.  On the build sheet it was hand written "stripes to be black"

Because it has a vinyl top, wouldn't it be - B?.....Joe

Yes it should be -B. At one time, had a parchment vinyl top. May have been added in the resto.

There have been several internet ads for it over the years. In this pic, trunk hinge appears to have remnants of green paint.

Man, you guys are good!

Odd to see a vinyl top added - but pretty common to see it deleted.

You don't happen to have a photo of the sheet do you?

I would love to see a black 69 Z with "stripes to be red" or "stripes to be blue".

52 years after introduction day, only one '69 Z/28 with other than white or black stripes is known. It's burgundy with red stripes, an early Norwood build per the color chart at that time.

There are very few Z/28s with non-normative combos; silver with white stripes and Le Mans blue with black are known. Special paint was noted on dealer paperwork but not defined. Sometimes noted on production broadcast copies, very rare to have those.

Sorry, been so long since I looked "stripes to be black" was printed. You can see the -- -- at top of build sheet.

NICE Chassis Broadcast... really killer piece there -

April car 04C?

Just a thought on the original post.. .

Could it have originally been ordered with a painted top and no stripes, would that be a special paint-which resulted in the top trim yet no top color or Vinyl color code?

The green in reply 5 doesn't look like one of the available greens from Chevrolet for that year. Maybe a Buick color?...Joe
