What was the correct original alternator part number for a:
1968 396/325hp with power steering?
I can't figure out if it was 1100794 or 1100813 (or some other version). Thanks for any help.
Does it have a/c?...Joe
Chassis SERVICE AMNUAL ST 130-68
ENGINE ELECTRICAL
Section 6Y
Generator
1100794 37 amp (STD)
1100795 42 amp (Optional?)
1100796 61 amp (With AC)
I think there are a few threads about this & Ed, Kurt & others got real detailed in the options and applications.
61A was optional (K76) as well. Was included with AC. Was gonna say all 3 could be correct until I seen the note from the "White Book"- "K79 Generator; 42 amp Delcotron (not available when 375 hp engine, air conditioning or Turbo Hydramatic is ordered)"
I dunno what the TH400 has to with it, but what transmission do you have ?

I have a four-speed manual. However, I also forgot to mention that the car is a convertible. Does that affect what standard alternator would be used?
Not from what I'm reading (White Book). The 794 (37A) would've been standard and 795, 796 were optional for your car.
Where's Ed (AKA "bertfam") when we need him !? I know he wasn't too happy with the Team Camaro overhaul, but I don't see him around here either...?
