Title: 1969 ignition coil
Post by: TonyS on April 12, 2020, 08:21:27 PM
Anyone have a source for a coil for the cowl hood application? I hope this is the #270? I have one on order from Ecklers, but maybe another week or more before it ships, since they are currently out of stock.

What is the difference in the cowl hood/non-cowl hood coils?

Thanks.

Z/28 and SS350 used the 270 coil assembly to move the coil away from the air cleaner. 396/427 didn't require it.

The mounting bracket is the same one used on the '65-'67 275/327.

So the bracket is different, but the coil should be the same physical size as a flat hood car? This is what I think, just want to be sure.

Thanks.

Some service replacement coils are larger in diameter than OE and had ink-stamped characters.

OE was 2.125" dia with stamped, raised characters.

Try Long Island Corvette Supply if your coil is still on b/o.
