Are ya kiddin' me?
I am in no way versed in some of the things a few of you are, But; what a JOKE! Maybe the kindergarden class did this one during art class.
I think it's an original tag; whether it's original to this car is a good question. Maybe if you took about a 1/2" of roofing tar off of the tag, you might be able to see it better. I agree with William - it's been off, or replaced, or changed to be sure. No doubt - and a shame to spend this much money on a restoration, and then goof the tag up.
Regards,
Steve
I truly can't pass judgement on that tag, really hard to tell what you are seeing....
At first I thought it looked like the number and letters had been altered, but looking at it again for a longer period of time and a magnifying glass, it actually looks more like it has multiple coats of paint obscuring and blending them all together. My previous remark was premature.
This cars VIN is in the documentation list in the 1969 Orphan section.
Doc.
Doc,
Good catch. An other invoice for the car was on ebay 9 years ago. It was handwritten, but has the same info as the typed invoice. At the time, the car was said to survive.
'Paperwork' has several incorrect option prices.
Here some more info
